Krista MacHugh

Krista MacHugh is currently Account Manager - Healthcare at X-on, a healthcare focussed communications company based at the Technology Centre in Framlingham.

After relocating to Framlingham from Rugby in 2008 Krista sought a career with "a forward thinking expanding organisation, and was excited to be appointed the role of Sales and Marketing coordinator with X-on, with a view to climbing the career ladder in Sales and Marketing."


Krista's roles at Cloud Nine Digital Design Ltd, VWR International, RDP Advertising & Marketing had helped her develop a customer-centric work ethic, and "gave me the exposure to supplier/client negotiations and account management/client relationship building, while teaching me the importance in client management of always delivering to a high standard, regardless of the size or value of the clients request.

"Workload and time management skills were regularly tested to the extreme, with tight deadlines, therefore the skill to prioritise was a necessity."

Role in Sales

Krista found the opportunity to move into field sales very attractive: "The role allowed me to expand on previous experiences gained in my career and apply those skills in face to face meetings with prospective customers. This coupled with the opportunity to bring innovative new technology solutions to these prospects, and in so doing help to solve their business requirements was, and still is, exciting to me. I thoroughly enjoy the 'sales journey', the customer interaction and the buzz and challenge of meeting new people every day."

The aspects her role that Krista finds fullfilling and most enjoyable include "customer interaction, including identifying their needs, establishing and implementing a solution, the development of new and existing business relationships, the satisfaction of making a difference within the healthcare sector during challenging times, both financial and resource wise, and the self-discipline required to succeed in a Sales role.

Progression at X-on

Krista has seen her role at X-on evolve while gaining new skills: "During my past employment at X-on I have worked with customer service contact centre customers across many sectors, including retail and leisure. The work involved consulting with each customer on their individual key requirements and providing possible technical solutions to resolve their business challenges.

"Working at this corporate scale has enabled me to understand the pressures that are faced by all roles within contact centre organisations. I have banked this experience and knowledge base which has migrated with me to my current role of working closely with healthcare professionals where there are similarities in the daily challenges faced. Working in the primary healthcare service as a Key Account Manager is a key area of focus and I enjoy creating awareness of Surgery Connect to our GP practices which has changed working lives!"

Development via X-on

Since joining X-on in 2008 Krista has developed and honed her sales skills and "constantly kept abreast of new technology and product offerings. My career path illustrates a solid and sound progression, and I am looking forward to the next opportunity with X-on to further my career still further. I have the core skills that are fundamental for a customer facing team leader role, and see myself in a management position allowing me to further develop personally and also support the continued growth of the company."

Krista says "Working for X-on, a stable and reliable organisation, with an excellent staff welfare philosophy, helps to ensure low staff turnover and a contented workforce. My experience during my own maternity is an example of this excellent philosophy.

"We have grown into a large family tree yet management continues to be approachable and listens to feedback. X-on’s supportive approach to staff is returned in the form of staff loyalty and the will from staff for the business to succeed. I take pleasure in priding myself in having a part to play in the success of the business in my role as Account Manager."
