X-on Health has been listed as a self-certified supplier on the NHS England Ambient Voice Technology (AVT) Self-Certified Supplier Registry, marking a key step in the safe and governed adoption of voice-enabled AI across health and care settings.
Established by NHS England, the AVT Self-Certified Supplier Registry brings clarity to a fast-moving market. It recognises suppliers that have provided evidence of self-certification against national expectations for clinical safety, data protection, information governance and interoperability. It is designed to support GP practices, ICBs and trusts as they assess and adopt ambient voice technology within local governance frameworks.
X-on Health’s inclusion reflects its role in delivering Surgery Intellect, powered by TORTUS, a voice-enabled AI assistant built for secure clinical documentation in UK primary care. TORTUS AI is also listed separately as a self-certified supplier on the registry, recognising the compliance and governance foundations of the underlying technology.
Developed through close collaboration between X-on Health and TORTUS AI, Surgery Intellect combines deep understanding of primary care workflows with clinically validated AI designed for real-world use. It supports transcription, summarisation and structured outputs across both face-to-face and telephone consultations, while ensuring clinicians remain in control of all documentation before it is added to the patient record.
“By working closely with TORTUS AI, we’ve focused on practical deployment of Surgery Intellect in real GP settings to provide approved and tested technology that genuinely reduces workload, integrates seamlessly with existing systems, and delivers immediate value to clinicians and patients alike.
The creation of the NHS England AVT Registry is a clear signal that ambient voice technology is moving into safe, scalable adoption across the NHS and we’re proud to lead the way as a self-certified supplier.”
Julian Coe, Managing Director at X-on Health
The partnership between X-on Health and TORTUS AI reflects a shared commitment to responsible innovation, with a strong focus on clinical validation, interoperability and most importantly ongoing governance. Independent evaluation frameworks such as CREOLA (Clinical Review of LLMs and AI), alongside an additional clinical safety layer known as The Shell, which removes 93% of detected hallucinations in clinical notes, further support confidence in how the technology is designed and monitored.
As interest in ambient voice technology continues to grow, the AVT Registry offers NHS organisations greater visibility of suppliers engaging with NHS England’s expectations. For X-on Health, inclusion reinforces a long-standing focus on building digital tools that are practical, safe and aligned with the realities of frontline care.
