X-on Health is offering up to three months’ free access to digital patient support and online consultation tools to help GP practices maintain patient access following Silicon Practice entering administration.

Following Silicon Practice entering administration, hundreds of GP practices across England and Wales have been left facing disruption to their websites and online services, affecting how patients find information and contact their surgery. GP Online reported that up to 600 GP practices have been affected.

For practices already managing high demand, losing familiar patient access routes creates an immediate challenge. Patients still need to find the right support, while reception teams face the prospect of more calls and administrative work.

To help practices through the Silicon Practice administration, X-on Health is offering up to three months’ free access to Surgery Assist Lite for all affected practices. For Surgery Connect customers who have also lost their online consultation service, Footfall, X-on Health is offering Online Consultation Forms with optional voice capability to help restore equitable routes for patient requests.

Our aim is simple: to help practices maintain patient access, protect capacity and give teams time to make longer-term arrangements.

Helping practices maintain patient access while protecting capacity

Restoring online access is an important first step for practices affected by the Silicon Practice administration, but how that access is restored matters.

Directing every patient straight to an online consultation form risks creating a sudden influx of requests for practice teams to manage, including routine enquiries that could be resolved without their involvement.

That’s where Surgery Assist Lite can help.

Our AI-powered digital assistant provides patients with instant answers to common questions, practice information and signposting to trusted NHS resources and appropriate health and social care services. By helping patients find the right support before they submit a request, Surgery Assist Lite can reduce avoidable demand on practice teams while keeping access to services clear and straightforward.

We’re making Surgery Assist Lite available to all practices affected by the Silicon Practice shutdown, regardless of their existing telephony provider. With setup possible in as little as 10 minutes, with no additional clinical safety work, practices can quickly establish an alternative digital support route while they work through their next steps.

Supporting online and telephone requests

For practices affected by the loss of both their website and online consultation service following the Silicon Practice closure, we’re extending our support to include up to three months’ free access to Omni Consultations, bringing together Online Consultation Forms and our AI-powered Voice Agent.

This gives patients two ways to submit requests:

  • Online Consultation Forms: Patients can submit medical, administrative and prescription requests online via Surgery Assist
  • Voice Agent: Patients can make requests over the telephone, without needing to complete a digital form

Both routes feed into the same consultation workflow within the Surgery Connect Phonebar, helping practice teams manage incoming requests in one place.

Practices can start with Online Consultation Forms and introduce the Voice Agent when they’re ready, whether that’s immediately or further down the line. This flexibility is particularly important for patients who may struggle with online services or simply prefer to use the telephone.

By offering digital and telephone routes together, we’re staying true to our promise of delivering equitable access to the NHS, helping patients reach the right support in the way that works for them.

When a practice suddenly loses its website or online consultation service, the impact goes beyond technology. Patients lose familiar ways to access support, while reception teams face additional pressure. We want to help practices restore those routes as quickly and simply as possible, giving their teams some breathing space while they make longer-term arrangements. By making these tools available with minimal setup, we hope to make a difficult situation a little easier for practices and the patients who depend on them.
